Here is the recipe that we use to make play dough at Noah’s Ark Christian Pre-School. It is much cheaper than buying it and you can colour it or leave plain. Why not get creative together and make . . . well, anything, the possibilities are endless!!
- 4 cups of flour
- 2 cups of salt
- 4 cups of water
- 4 tbs of oil
- 4 tbs of cream of tartar
- Optional – food colouring
Mix it all up in a large saucepan on the hob – keep stirring. It will become gradually more difficult to stir and when it looks like play dough, tip it out onto a chopping board to cool down. (It may be best to make this when the kids are in bed, so it is ready to use!) Store it in a tub with lid (old sweets tubs are ideal) and it can be used for a week.
Note: Play dough is not edible (too salty). Please also check ingredients for any allergies before use.
